I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to receive scholarships and speak at the SIUE School of Business Legacy Night. This event celebrated the generosity of the donors, Dean's Circle members, advisory board members, and friends of the university that made these opportunities available to the student scholarship recipients. Through this I was able to meet new peers and celebrate with others making this not only a great networking opportunity, but also just a enjoyable event to be part of.
I was honored to be selected as a recipient of the following scholarships:
- Anne L. Powell Information Analyst Scholarship
- Robert A. and Margaret K. Schultheis Scholarship
- Marian and Boulton Miller Award
Being able to have spoken at this event was a great way to not only express my gratitude to everyone in the room, but also a great way to push myself out of my comfort zone. Giving a presentation like this to so many distiguished peers and other students was very intimdating, but having done it has helped grow my confidence and shown me what there is to gain by doing diffuclt things like this. I was also able to understand the power of networking and having connections with others through events like this. Being able to have met so many people qualified in so many different expertices helped me realise that having more connections the better and that one cannot ever have too many friends.
